We're frozen!!

Okay, so my last post was so idyllic...like that painting of two girls skating with their hands in nice fur mufflers and the preacher skating by them. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyways, forget all of that, why the heck did anyone settle here?!
We are heading into day 3 of below 0 weather! Tomorrow the low will be -18. I hate how excited people get when we get above 0. People, it isn't like we hit 70. The high on Friday is going to be 5. However, we will be up to 28 by Sunday so my idyllic skating weekend will return.

When we were doing research on places to live I remember being on a website about top places to live. That's where I found out that 85% of Minnesotans were born here. The article was all about how people love it and don't move away. Well, you'd think that being in marketing I could figure out that is one way to spin it. I'm sure all you smart readers figured out from my last post something that has taken me two years to understand. The statistic is so darn high because no one chooses to move here! That other 15% is made up of poor folks born in the Dakotas and people who need to have their sanity checked (me and Chris).

Now I know why Minnesotans always plan their vacations in January even if it means pulling their kids out of school for a week. Say we went to a nice 80 degree beach in Mexico today. We'd experience a 94 degree change in temperature. I think Chris and I will always plan vacations in January. The summers here are absolutely beautiful so why leave then?

Just a quick update on Penelope...she is staying warm! I put her in a fleece snowsuit and then under the fleece cover on her car seat. We went to her 4 month dr appointment. She is 13.5 lbs and 25 inches long. That puts her in the 50% for weight and 60% in height. Besides needing to change the lotion we were using (who knew Johnson & Johnson's baby lotion is one of the worst products on the market for dry skin?!) the doctor said she looks really good. Oh, and she took a 3 hour nap at day care today, and greeted me with smiles at lunch :)

This may sound mean, but you can keep your cold weather there, thank you very much. It is supposed to be in the single digits the next two days. NO THANK YOU!!

We can come up and pick up Penelope so she can be warm and cozy with Papa John and Grandmama.

No offense but you can keep your frigid weather..we don't want it here in NY. Tonight it's -5 and tomorrow no warmer than 8..The bright spot is it should be a balmy 25 on Sunday.
Sunny, warm Phoenix is looking better and better:-)
You can always move back to NY, I'd be happy to babysit that little cutie pie.

Laura, that's freezing!! I get cold reading that post!! Yikes! Why did you guys move out there? Sometimes I beg Jeff to move away from Phx cause I am so sick of living here, but I think we will be lifers. :'( A part of me really wants to try living in snow...I think it might beat the Phx summers. I LOVE ice skating so much and when I have a little girl I hope that she will be an ice princess and skate too!! That's so great that you live so close to a place where you can skate...you do all the turns, spins, and fancy foot work right? Just kiddin! Hope you are well!! Random...but do you ever talk to Davida anymore? I used to see her and Sean off and on but haven't heard from them in a long time.

Well, I miss the snow once in a while until I hear about your temperatures and talk to Eunice when she has fallen on the ice again. I arrived back in Tucson on Thurs when it was sunny and 76!!!! Maybe I'll visit for a Christmas sometime but otherwise I'll keep the mountains and warm winters!!! :-) Glad you are enjoying the ice skating! Has your Dad told you stories of all the skating we did as kids???? Anyway, try to enjoy when you can and would love to see pictures of you on the ice. Can't wait to see Penny ice skating!!! Lots of love!!!!

You guys are tougher than I! It was 2 when I woke up yesterday morning. I thought that was terrible. I couldn't imagine dealing with anyhting colder than that for an extended period of time!
Maybe when you take your January vacation next year, you can come to wonderful VA!
Glad to hear Penny's check up went well. Both of the boys have dry skin from excema and I used The Aveeno Baby Moisture Cream on their skin. It does the best job compared to other brands I have tried (and I have tried many).

Elisa--We wanted to leave NY and live in a city with a lot going on, but still affordable. So we ended up in Minneapolis. We really do love it, but once it is below 0 for more than a day we feel the right to complain a little :) Girl, you need to join Facebook! That's how I've kept in touch with Davida and Sean. Davida came here this summer (pictures are in the blog sometime during August).

Brandy--Thanks for the tip! Aveeno was on the list she gave me. I use their diaper rash cream and really like it.

Aunt Jan--Yes, Dad has shared some ice skating stories. The first time I went skating was with Mom and Dad in CO. They were able to skate backwards and do all sorts of stuff. We'll get him out here some winter to skate with Penny.
