"mommy, if I wanted to be born in the arctic...

I would have been born a penguin!"

Yes, I know this is her Halloween costume, but it was too good to pass up with all the snow. Plus, we finally got up to the 30's and I wanted all 3 of us to get some fresh air. We were below 0 for over 90 hours. Glad that is over! We were only outside for 10 mins but it sure felt good.

Unfortunately, we are all sick again. I'm trying to disinfect everything, but my lysol spray is no match for these germs. I'm not sure if this was the cold we had 2 weeks ago or a new one. Poor Penny! She looks at us with a pitiful expression "Why don't you make me feel better? What kind of world is this?!" If it was up to Chris, we would have been at the hospital at the first runny nose...I'm trying to keep my head, but the whole "follow your gut" saying is meaningless to someone who second guesses everything. She had a fever that could have been caused from her shots or her cold. Tylenol brought it down. Now it is the coughing fits. I may take her to the doctor tomorrow just to make sure there isn't some sort of infection. We have a humidifier and everytime we take a hot shower she sits in the bumbo in the bathroom. That calms her down more than anything. We've gone through multiple sleepless nights and I feel so hopeless. Once again it makes me think of all the parents I've met at work. If I feel hopeless with a baby dealing with the common cold, how do you comfort a baby going through chemo treatments? I think in that situation it must be one hour or even one minute at a time.

The only way we were able to get her to nap yesterday was with Penny lying on our chest. Anything to help her get some rest and beat this bug.

And then here are pictures from earlier in the week when she was feeling fine. She was practicing her raspberries.

Laura,
you're posts make it all worthwhile. Thank you, more than you can imagine Babies are so much trouble, but they are so worth it. I love you, Chris and Penny. Get better and enjoy the raspberries, they are more important than bank accounts.

Laura!!!! Oh my gosh it is so great to hear from you! HOW ARE YOU!? That is so crazy that you are in Minneapolis! My whole family is from there so we're up there every summer so we should totally meet up sometime. (ha ha not too sure if we'll make it this summer though for obvious reasons - but Grandpa has to meet his great grand baby so we might just have to find a way).

Penny is beautiful! You have no idea how often I have actually thought of you and your family. And every 9/11 I remember it's your birthday (ha ha kinda hard to forget). It is so good to see that life is great for you :) I will definitely be keeping in touch and put you on my list so I can't miss your updates.

How is Chris (your brother, not hubby ha ha) and Jen? How are your parents? I hope everyone is well!!

I love the pics of Penny in the penguin costume. You have the greatest ideas. So cute!
Glad to hear you got outside for a while. I know it is hard when you have a sick child (especially when you are sick too) but it sounds like you guys are doing everything right. So try not to worry, have faith in yourself, and remember this too shall pass!

Hi! I love the penguin outfit....too cute. I am so glad you were all able to get some fresh air....that helps so much!!! I am so sorry you are all sick. If Penny wants to sleep on your stomach, sounds good to me. There is nothing better than a baby sleeping on your chest!!!! Those raspberries are too adorable...at this age! ;-) I am so grateful you take the time to post on your blog....you have no idea! Hang in there!!! Lots of love, hugs, and kisses to all!!!!
