A Morning Discussion

Chris: Penny do you want to pet Cece before she goes to the doggy hotel?
Penny: What? Where is Cece going? Can I come?
Chris: Cece is going to spend Christmas with her friends. She can’t come on the airplane.
Penny: Oh (pause). Bye bye, Cece. Can I get a new puppy tomorrow?
Me: No! Cece is coming back. She’s your puppy.
Penny: Why?
Me: Because Mommy and Daddy got her many years ago and she is part of our family.
Penny: Oh. Okay.
(15 minutes later)
Penny: Cece come home after Christmas?
Me: Yes, we’ll pick her up next week.
Penny: Can she not be a dog? Can Cece be a toucan when she comes home?

Oh my gosh!! What do you say to that? I feel like bugging my house so I can have all of this on tape to prove I don’t make this stuff up. But how would I make that up? A toucan?! Poor Cece. No wonder she was jumping up and down and wagging her non-existent tail when the boarding staff greeted her this morning. Her little girl wishes she was an exotic bird.

Mostly Wordless Wednesday: Have fun in Chile

My parents are off to Chile today. Penelope says "Feliz Navidad Grandmama, Papa John, Tia Jenn y Tio Christopher!" Can't wait to see all the photos and hear the stories.

Penny's dance class

Penelope's last dance class for the season was on Saturday. The last 20 minutes they showed parents some of the "dances". This class is called Creative Movement so it is more about having fun than plies and tendus.
.

Here's a longer one.

(I had her wear the black shirt on purpose so she'd stand out in the video among the sea of pink. I wasn't going for any sort of Steve Jobs, beatnik or goth look)

Catch up

Man, this is a busy time of year. I can't believe it has been two weeks since I blogged. I wanted to share some fun we had a couple weekends ago.

First, we had a great visit from Chris's aunt Carolynne. She certainly earned her title "great" aunt with Penny! We headed over to the Children's Museum in St. Paul.

We haven't been to the Children's Museum in a while. It was so much fun because there were multiple exhibits Penelope hadn't been interested in previously, but now she is all for it. She loves playing pretend.

Then I left Carolynne with Chris and Penny and headed up to a girls weekend up north. I'm so thankful I met my friend Kelly at work. She has introduced me to all her friends and we've got a ton in common: books, pinterest, crafting maven wanna-be's, hollywood gossip lovers, etc.

Kelly's family's cabin is absolutely beautiful. It is on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The weekend was beautiful. We went for a hike at Tettegouche. I did this hike 2 summers ago with my family. I think it is more beautiful in the winter because you can see the water from every angle.

Kelly and Liz

This is how close I'll get to the edge. My fear of heights makes me a great candidate for Amazing Race. If only I could talk Chris into it.

The daredevils that climbed through the fence and climbed around on the rocks.

Check out this bunny. He was huge! I've never seen a winter hare before.
We also went to the rocky beach near the cabin

View from the cabin...I'd call it more of a lodge. It was beautiful and all  10 of us  had a bed.
