Okay, so maybe Mommy wants a tutu for Penny!
Let me explain...Facebook and blogs are amazing for reconnecting me with people. I've found so many AZ friends that I haven't talked to in forever. Some of you may notice Caryn who posts on my blog. We were in Limelight together almost 20 years ago and were friends in high school. (Oh my gosh, Caryn, it will be 20 years this year! We were in Christmas Spectacular in 1989! That was my first show) I hadn't talked to her since I left Buena my junior year, but this year we became friends on Facebook. She has a 5 year old and a newborn, is in law school and keeps up a blog all about the crafts she does. Yeah, I'm just a little jealous of her energy. And then this past week I found Nikki who grew up a street away from me. We pretty much lived at each other houses for a couple of years....hadn't talked to her since I moved either and I'm so excited to catch up with her, especially as she is expecting her first little one. Anyways, on to the tutu, so this morning Caryn had a link to Ashley's blog. I knew Ashley in high school too. Turns out Ashley is another one of these craft wizards with a great blog and store on etsy.com. She is giving away a tutu, slippers and hair clip. All I have to do is to post her blog site on here to be entered for the tutu so here it is: http://makeitandloveit.blogspot.com I'm sure some others of you out there want to enter once you see this tutu.
Ashley's other projects make me drool. Who knew I'd want to make a plastic bag holder so bad, but once I saw the one on her site I was like "Whoa! I need one of those!" Actually I probably don't since we've made it a goal to use reuseable shopping bags but it is still pretty cool. Problem is that most of the projects require sewing. I've never touched a sewing machine. The year I was required to take Home Ec there was some sort of overcrowding or something so I had to take two quarters of music. I'd be quite the recessionista if I learned how to sew. Whenever I buy pants or a skirt I have to take them to a tailor or hope that I have heels high enough that I won't trip. Maybe I should make learning how to sew a goal for this year.
(Did I really use the word recessionista? This is what I get for laying on the couch and watching the Today show for a whole week)

I hope you win the tutu, etc., they are adorable!!! Too bad we don't live closer.....I could teach you all kinds of things.. ;-) Love you!
I didn't know Caryn was in Limelight!! Are you kidding!? I'll have to ask her about that. That is so crazy. Good ol' Limelight. We went and saw a community theater production of Fiddler on the Roof on Thursday and it totally made me miss it! :)
I'm going to email you later today to catch up some more. I told my dad yesterday that we got back in touch and he was super excited. And yes, we really did live at each other's houses for a while. I was just thinking about those videos we used to make. Remember how we tried to make a scary movie? ha ha and I totally remember your guinea pig. Was his name Squeakers? I can't remember.
WOW I can't believe it's been 20 years! We are old. ha ha.
And I love Ashley's bag holder too. it's so cute! Who has a cute bag holder??? only Ashley... You should totally learn to sew and become a recessionista (I love that worD!), I learned the trick to hemming jeans like the tailor does and it's pretty simple.
I hear ya Laura, cause I can never comprehend either how amazing and talented Caryn and Ashley both are...they seriously make me want to get a sewing machine, but I don't think I could ever be as cool as them!! Ohhhhhh....I hope Penny wins the tutu, she would look adorable!! I looked back on your blog when Davida came to visit...how fun! She looks really good. Facebook...I won't let myself get an account cause I'm already addicted to blog and I can't imagine the amount of time I would spend on facebook...I've resisted myspace for a long time too. I figure the people I want to keep in touch with most I do, ya know? Is Davida still in Tucs?
Not to make this post super long or anything, but I don't know how to do the whole answering questions thing on blogs either. I usually go back to their blog and answer so that they don't have to filter all through my posts to find my answer. I've always found it most convenient to respond on the latest post they have made too. I always wonder if people go back to my really old posts and make comments?!? I don't really check. I think most people do it that way though too. Anyways, it's fun that we are having such a SV reunion on blogs! :)
Your last couple posts have had me laughing! Even the ear goo :) I hope you win the tutu! It's adorable!
Laura......oh my word!! I'm so glad you found the blog. And so glad you posted. It's been so long......when Caryn told me that you posted, I had to go check it out. And then come check your blog out. Cute. And what a darling little girl. Love it. Hope you don't mind me snooping. You're totally welcome to check mine out....but it's set to private. So send me your email if you'd like to take a look.

Anyway, all the projects are pretty basic. Don't let me fool you. Come on.....go knock on the neighbor's door and ask to borrow their sewing machine. And then make THEM a bag holder. Hahaha!!
So good to hear from you though.
Ashley
I just love your blog! If you don't win the tutu, let me know, and I can make one for Penny :) I can give it to you at our playdate!
