seventy dollars

A few weeks ago Penelope was reading a library book in her car seat. She pointed to the library bar code and said "Look mom, this book was $70." She picked out the 70 in the really long bar code. How she did could identify 70 since she can only count to 30 I'm not quite sure. Now everything in her life cost seventy dollars...the shirt she puts on in the morning, the purse she plays with, her toy princesses, the apple she puts in the bag at Target. Here was the conversation we had yesterday:

Penny: Mommy, do you like my sandals? They were $70 dollars.
Me: No, Penny. They weren't $70 dollars. They were $20 dollars.
Penny: No, Mommy. Grandma got them for me. She had $70 dollars.
Me: No, we bought them. Remember, mommy got shoes and Daddy got shoes and Penny got shoes?
Penny: Oh yeah. and Mommy's shoes and Daddy's shoes and Penny's shoes were $70 dollars.
Me: sure Penny, whatever you say

Where does she come up with this stuff?!

Wow. Big spender. $70 for a pair of kid's shoes. I don't know if I can hang with you anymore. ;)
