Time: Monday morning = chaos
Laura trying to curl her hair while Penny runs amuck, and Chris is trying to find a somewhat unwrinkled outfit in the basket of clean clothes.
Penny: Pee pee, pee pee, pee pee!
Laura: Yes, Penny, we don't have time to play potty.
Penny: (grabs Laura's legs) Pee pee pee pee.
Chris: (pokes head into bathroom) Do you think I should take off her pants and diaper?
Laura: No, she just wants to play. The one time she "peed in the potty" she was standing up and I had to make her sit down and then clean her up. We don't have time for that.
Chris: Well, maybe this time it will be different.
Penny: pee pee pee pee
Laura: Fine, you are the one who will be late though.
(Chris undresses penny. She toddles to the potty and sits down.)
Penny: More more more.
Laura: She wants some toilet paper.
(Chris reaches for toilet paper. All of a sudden the noise of pee streaming into a plastic potty fills the bathroom. Chris and Laura turn and look at each other in shock)
Laura & Chris: PENNY!! You pee peed in the potty! High five!!
Penny: (big smiles as she turns around to look and then starts reaching to touch pee)
Laura & Chris: NO! Stop!
(Disaster averted!)
End Scene
Penelope peed twice at day care today. I'm trying not to get too excited in case it is a fluke. Everyone says this is the hardest thing. I haven't done anything except buy her a potty and "play potty." I guess I'll credit day care and cloth diapers. To think that 2 months ago I was so worried about her walking and now she is peeing in the potty. Crazy!
