They don't come with a manual

Everyone likes to tell us that kids don't come with a manual. Yes, it is true that we weren't handed a Penelope Jane for Dummies book as we left the hospital, but I've learned that although my parents always said I'm one of a kind someone else has always come across the same hurdles I have. So I turn to my usual resources to figure it out...the local library and bookstore. This week we got the DVD and book The Happiest Baby on the Block. That guy is amazing! He's like Cesar Milan for babies. Even the Grandmas said they wish they had known about the 5 Ss when they had kids. We now don't have to rock Penny next to the dishwasher or noisy refrigerator. I recommend it for any new parent.

Sadly, we had to let the NY grandma go home. Are we going to be able to do this without someone living here?! I know that I was able to get a ton of rest with all of the help and I'm so thankful for that.

Speaking of well rested, Penelope spent her first play date fast asleep! I went out to lunch with Lacey, Jackie Lee, and Libbi (jackie lee's baby). Penelope was adorable in her new little dress but never opened her pretty blue eyes. Hopefully Libbi will give her another chance. Maybe Penelope is in another growth spurt. It seems we've said she is in a growth spurt every day since we came home from the hospital. I don't have to worry about her not getting enough food. That little girl plans to be as tall as her Aunt Laura by Christmas. She already outgrew her newborn clothes. She can't stretch her legs out in the footie pajamas and the sleeves are too short.

Of course she should be the happiest baby on the block. She is already the cutest. Great pictures.

I liked that book too...but thankfully Evie hasn't needed any of the 5 S's to fall/stay asleep! I'm keeping the book handy for if our next is a fussy baby.

Another good book for me was "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer." That one has definitely helped us with keeping Evie happy and getting her to sleep 7 hour stretches by 6 weeks!

Do you think the 5 S's will help stop her cousin Molly from trying to climb out of her crib? That's the problem we're having with sleep now! :) Penelope is SOOOO cute. Every time I open your page, Molly still comes running over and points "baby, baby"! She loves Penelope!!!
