Mostly Wordless Wednesday: and the nominee is....

...Penelope Strand. For her role portraying a 3 year old in Spoiled Rotten Only Child. The power struggle scenes with her parents were captivating and inspiring for any 3 year old. The award winning portion of course was the sweet apologies and little smile that always melted her mommy's best intentions. This little firecracker will surely have fans from the preschool generation for years to come.

I'm headed to the library this week to raid the parenting shelf. It has been a tough few weeks...

Ha ha I can't help but laugh. But seriously...I just bought "The Omnipotent Child." If you haven't read it already I'll let you know if it's good. I got it because it had awesome reviews, despite being an "older" book. It was written in 1983. It also seems to focus on elementary age kids, but I'm hoping I can still apply the principles.

Meanwhile - stay strong! We're all in this together :) who would have thought that little tiny two and three year olds would have so much power behind them? It really is awe-inspiring in a way. And that's "awe" not "aw" because there is definitely nothing cute about it!

I think both my kids were past 3 before I finally learned the patience that I needed to not engage in power struggles. It's a tough age, that's for sure! Good luck - it's so different with every child.

Oh man, Penelope! What are you doing to your mama. At least you can count on her to be a strong woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind. That's something to be proud of. Of course, I doubt that helps at all. In fact, I'm sure it doesn't. But, she is awfully cute. Good luck at the library!
