Our Sleep Habits

Here is the early bird (check out that hair! this is what happens after daycare puts her hair in a ponytail). She likes to greet the day at 5 am. We've tried to push her bedtime to 7:30 in the hopes that she'll sleep longer, but we just have a very cranky baby in the evening who still wakes up at 5 am. Then here is the night owl. He would be very happy playing video games every night until 3 am and sleeping in, but alas, the world requires him to make a living and so he reluctanly goes to bed around 10 or 11 and rolls out of bed at 6:30.
And, well, then there is your author, also known as the mid-day squirrel. This is what Chris called me the other day and said I'm at my best between 10 and 2. Really, though, I need a good 8-9 hours of sleep to function...and that silly early bird will babble in her crib for about a half hour and then wants her mama to come and get her by 5:30...then I get all wound up after work and want to get a ton done while also spending time with the darn night owl who will always turn on some horribly addicting show and sit down with a bag of popcorn...or I'll spend a precious hour on facebook or reading blogs. Do not be surprised if you call on the weekends and find the mid-day squirrel taking 2 naps a day with the early bird. I've got to refuel to start up the week!

Sounds so familiar......I was the "earlier" bird and Uncle Dwight was the night owl....now I've kind of settled in between.....Take a nap whenever you can!!!!!!

Just tell Penelope to wait for Papa John - 5:30 is like sleeping in an extra hour and a half. But there will be no diaper changes until midday squirrel gets up so she is out of luck there.

5 am?? Little Stinker. Maybe that'll adjust a bit as she gets bigger. And how funny.......you guys are all so different. I love getting things done at night and would love to sleep in. But we all know that doesn't happen with little kiddos in the house. Darn.

Sounds a lot like our family. The boys are up by 5:30 even though they go to bed at 8:00/8:30. So I feel your pain! Mike is the morning person- up at 4:45 and off to work by 6 and then he passes at around 9pm. I'm the night owl -very grumpy in the morning and don't go to bed until 10 or so and when I am working I have to leave the house by 6:45. Craziness! Mike and I take turns getting up with boys on weekends and I think that helps a lot.

I was enjoying the blog all the way down to the "I might be taking two naps on the weekend" part. Then I got JEALOUS. REALLY jealous. Why didn't I take better advantage when I only had one! Doh!

Sounds exactly like us. No matter what we do with Evie's bedtime she's still up around 5. I've just started going to sleep around 8, lol, Shaun's up until 11 (or later on weekends).

Wouldn't it be nice if all your sleep schedules aligned? :D

Cute post!!

Dan and I are night owls... so much so that we hit our alarm about a zillion times before we actually get up. (It got me in trouble the other day though because Dan accidentally hit the "off" button rather than snooze and I was over forty minutes late to my summer school class!!) Now I'm forcing myself to go to sleep earlier. :)
