40 weeks--Hello and goodbye due date

We are trying to be as patient as possible with this little one. S/he is obviously quite comfortable. My dr.'s appointment went well. If I make it to Wednesday I have another appt and at that point we'll schedule an induction for the week of the 21st. (that seems so far away!) I read that scientists have figured out that babies start labor so many books say to talk to your baby about how we can't wait to meet him/her. We've let Don Juan know all about the beautiful nursery and full bookcase of books and toys, the great weather we've been having, and of course, what it would be like to stretch out his/her legs without running into ribs. I will admit that I did have a desparate moment where I threatened that s/he would be grounded 1 year for every day late, but I was told that threats probably aren't the way to start my parenting...Then I started promising things "If you come this week you'll get that Wii just like your cousin Molly" Bribing probably isn't the best parenting tool either...I need to go to the library and pick up some books since I'll be finished with the pregnancy ones very soon. Me and Chris enjoying a steak dinner for my birthday. Maybe I should stop sending such yummy food down. Tomorrow I'll stick to brussell sprouts, waldorf salad and anchovies. What do you think of that, baby?

Laura - Take heart - the day WILL come and then you will wonder where all the time went! We're thinking of you and anxious as you are to welcome the little one into this weird family (maybe that's why s/hes taking so long : D ) Love - the Kansas Zoo contingent

Well I'm glad that if you weren't delivering Don Juan on the 11th at least you got a steak dinner out of it! Needless to say, I've been checking the email quite regularly (even at work :-))---I can't wait either! However, not quite as uncomfortably as you... :-) Your Aunt Jo is probably right...knowing your nickname comes from your Grandma but yet it is Juan!??? We really are a rather strange group! :-) My thoughts and prayers are with you! I love you!!!

Dearest Chris, Laura and Don Juan,

Please tell the baby that grandma can not wait to meet him/her and i have lots of great stories to tell her/him about daddy.
Maybe that will intrigue the little one to move out of his/her comfortable cocoon.
Also, we are planning a Disney trip in 7 years with your cousin dylan so get born already!!l

Bribing, Threats, and threatening with bad food. It seems like you learned a lot of parenting skills from your dad. None of the empathy and love crap your mom used.

I'm so proud of you! ;-)

I am taking my blackberry every where I go so I'm ready also. Except those idiots at NSA said I couldn't take it inside their fancy buildings. What a bunch of nerdy jerks. Don't they realize DonJuan is coming??????

You have to look at the good side of DonJuan coming after the 11th. For the rest of your life he must get you good presents for your birthday - or you won't get good presents for her. Not only that but since it will be a year until the next birthday, you still don't have to give good presents.

I love the pic of you and Chris at dinner! I know it's hard to wait but at least you know that in less than two weeks you will be holding your baby. My words of wisdom-take this time to savor the moments that you have with Chris. Don't get me wrong, life with kids is wonderful, but this is the last time it will be just the two of you. So enjoy your time together and reflect on how far you've both come in life. It will make you both stronger when DonJuan arrives. Oh and sleep as much as possible while you still can!!!

Well, at least I know I'm not the only one checking my email constantly. I've been sending my thoughts up to Minnesota for Don Juan to come. I can't believe the bribe about the Wii didn't work! :)
Come out, come out, Don Juan!!!

Spice him/her out!!! Eat the spiciest food you can handle! :)
Also I read somewhere that the smell of clary sage can start contractions....
